11 Christmas Date Ideas

When you’re named after a flower, it’s basically destiny to end up at Interflora - where my days are a blur of petals, video shoots and chasing the next big social trend (all with a flat white in hand). Outside of work I like to indulge my serious case of wanderlust. Travel fills my soul but flowers fill, well, everything else!
In the busy run up to Christmas it can be tricky to take time out with a loved one, but it’s so important you do! It could just give you both a boost of love, energy and comfort that’s much needed in amongst the flurry of festivities.
‘But’, we hear you say ‘I’ve got a million things to do! How do I plan a date night!? I must peel a metric ton of potatoes right this very moment!’. Well, that’s where we come in with a bunch of fun Christmas date ideas to take all the effort out thinking of what to do.
From snug nights in to festive nights out there’s something here for every couple. Ready for romance? Let’s go.
Relaxed Christmas Date Ideas
1. Have a festive movie marathon
Prefer to cosy up in the cold weather? This is one for you. Grab a big blanket, an enormous bowl of popcorn and cuddle up in front of the TV. Our top tip? Hide your phones so you can focus on each other and on the merriment. You could watch iconic Christmas films like Home Alone, It’s a Wonderful Life, or Elf. Or if you’re action fans you can’t do a Christmas movie marathon without watching Die Hard. Yippie kay-ay!
2. Have a DIY spa night
If Christmas exhaustion has caught up with you but you can’t face the expense or admin of a spa day, then it’s time for a little DIY. Track down some festive bath bombs, gather some candles and your fanciest lotions and potions and soak away the stress in a steaming tub. If you’re not too tired massages and foot rubs could also be a treat, or both delight in looking silly in face masks. For maximum festive vibes try a backing track of beautiful carols (we like Carols from Kings).
3. Mull your own wine
Mulling your own wine is a lot easier than it sounds. You can buy little mulling sachets, mulling syrup or follow this indulgent recipe. It’s a little kitchen creativity that’s relaxed and low effort with barely any washing up. Festive kitchen disco is entirely optional!

4. Go for a winter stroll
A winter walk through the frosty woods if just the thing to blow the cobwebs away. Grab your wellies, throw on heaps of layers, and head out into nature. Winter wildlife is in full swing – from the bright red berries of the holly bushes to the beautiful robins singing through the chill. Oh, and don’t be surprised if you hear a rustle – it might just be a hedgehog getting comfy for its long winter’s nap! Walking together through the stillness and calm of a winter wonderland is one of the most peaceful Christmas date ideas for couples, and it won’t cost you a penny.
5. Go ice skating
If you’re a sporty duo ice skating over the festive season is a must. You can elegantly swish round hand in hand or cling each other trying not to fall – either way it’s a bonding experience! Remember to wrap up warm and plan something warm and filling for after as a reward for all your hard work.
6. Tour local Christmas lights
If your neighbourhood goes all out with its Christmas lights, take full advantage of the seasonal sparkle! Grab your gloves and take an evening stroll to spy the best festive decorations. You might even get some extra inspo for your own! From ranking your favourites to guessing the electric bills this is a simple but fun Christmas date idea.

7. Go to a carol concert
It’s not Christmas without carols so look for a local carol event to enjoy some beautiful glad tidings. Choirs around the country will be gearing up to sing their hearts out, and you can support them while having a cute festive date at the same time. If you’re both musical, find one that welcomes audience participation and sing your hearts out!
8. Do Christmas karaoke
Sticking with the singing theme, if you really do love a singalong then book a booth for Christmas karaoke! Queue up your fave tunes and get ready to jingle bell rock (warning through, this may cause arguments over who gets to scream ’it’s Christmas’ in the style of Noddy Holder!)
Creative Christmas Date Ideas
9. Make a festive wreath together
Making a wreath is easier than you might expect, you just need to gather the right materials. We’ve got a guide on how to handle every step. You could join forces and make one together or set aside an evening to make one each (but remember it’s not a competition!) Get some wine mulling and festive tunes playing to really make the atmosphere ready.
10. Do a little Christmas baking
Like getting creative in the kitchen? Make your date night a little sweeter by baking something festive together. Gingerbread houses are always a winner – even if one of you is better at eating the decorations than building them. Not much of a baker? No problem. You can easily grab a gingerbread kit and focus on the fun part: decorating.
11. Do some Christmas crafting
Unleash your inner artist with a crafty Christmas date night. Even if one of you is more ‘glue stick novice’ than ‘crafty genius’, this is a fun, hands-on way to bond with your other half. Why not try your hand at making homemade Christmas cards or tree decorations? You could even opt for something more unusual like linocut printing – it’s easier than it sounds and perfect for personalising Christmas cards. These kinds of Christmas date ideas are all about creativity, and let’s face it, there’s something special about giving handmade gifts (especially if they’re a little wonky!)
We hope you’re feeling a little romantic inspiration for your winter dates. If you’ve got any more ideas (or tried and tested successes!) we’d love to hear about them. Let us know over on Insta.
