How To Choose Your Wedding Florist
Of all the things on your wedding to-do list, choosing your wedding flowers is probably one of the most exciting and important. Finding a reliable and talented wedding florist will be crucial in helping you realise your vision for your big day but it can be a daunting task, especially if you’ve no idea where to start looking. We’ve compiled these helpful hints and tips to help you find the right wedding florist.
Research
About 12 months before your wedding you should begin to research wedding florists. A good place to start is the Interflora florist directory.
If you’re getting married locally try and find a florist who has experience dressing your venue or ask for recommendations from your recently married friends or family members. Wedding fairs also provide a good opportunity to meet local florists and see examples of their work without having to book a formal consultation.

Interview
Most couples arrange to meet with at least two or three florists to compare styles, prices and personalities. Once you’ve narrowed your list of florists down, make appointments to go and visit your chosen few.
As well as discussing your vision for your big day with them, ask them to show you their portfolio so you can see examples of their past work plus any testimonials from previous brides. You should get a feel for whether they’re the right florist for you pretty quickly.

Finding a good florist
Be Prepared
When you go for your first consultation with a florist, go armed with ideas. Don’t be afraid to take cuttings from magazines, photographs of your venue and material swatches of your own dress as well as the bridesmaids’ gowns.
It’s good to have a vision of what you want and what you don’t want as once a florist understands your desires and budget, they can add value to the process by making their own suggestions, based on their expertise about flower types and prices.
Don’t forget to take a note pad so you can jot down everything you discussed as a prompt for later.

Make a booking
Good florists will book up quickly, especially during summer, the height of the wedding season. Once you’ve agreed which florist you would like for your special day, confirm the booking to secure your date. Always ask for written confirmation. You should also arrange for a follow up consultation six months ahead of your wedding day to discuss the finer details of your order and logistics on the day.
